HOURS: 19.5 Hours Per Week RATE: $13.93 - $16.93 Per Hour
Split Shift (R-12 CSEA Schedule)

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, this individual drives a school car/van to transport students.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Drive students including the orthopedically handicap, to class, school related activities and home. E
Supervise the conduct of transported students. E
Pick up students at home/school and transport to appropriate activity. E
Wash, sweep, refuel and perform daily safety checks and inspections on an assigned vehicle. E
Perform various duties in the bus yard as directed.

REQUIRED: Valid California Class C Driver’s License; Valid Standard First Aid/CPR certificate; Driver record that is free
of citations and motor vehicle code violations according to current DMV printout in order to have the ability to be insured
through the District; a High School diploma or equivalent and one year experience in the operation of a passenger van is
desirable. A physical examination and drug test is required prior to employment to this class, and may be required every
two years thereafter.

• Safe driving practices.
• Operation of school car/van and laws regarding the operation of the vehicle.
• Tools, materials and equipment used in various minor technical repairs.
ABILITY TO:
• Drive a school car/van safely and effectively.
• Establish and maintain order among students being transported.
• Observe mandatory safety regulations.
• Understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Learn proper methods of servicing, safety checks and inspections.
• Perform miscellaneous maintenance work.
• Operate wheelchair and related apparatus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Operate a passenger van for prolonged periods of time requiring constant attention to traffic and road conditions
while maintaining appropriate student behavior. Medium work involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or
pulling of objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Physical dexterity in limbs and digits necessary to operate a motor
vehicle. Position requires the ability hear and to sit for extended periods of time. Incumbents may be exposed to
traffic hazards and contact with hostile or abusive individuals. Flexible hours/split shifts.
